Rand Mittri, of Aleppo, Syria, was one of the three young people to give testimony to Pope Francis and approximately two million young people who gathered for a Vigil of Prayer, at the “Field of Mercy”, near Kraków, Poland, on Saturday.

Here is her testimony of the experience of violence and war that has caused the flight of so many internally displaced persons within the country and so many others who have fled as refugees to seek asylum in neighboring countries of Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon. Many others have reached Europe, but others have been lost in the Mediterranean Sea.

ICMC has been engaged in serving these forced migrants in Syria and in the countries of asylum. Moreover, in collaboration with its member agency, the Migration and Refugee Services of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, ICMC has facilitated the successful resettlement of Syrian refugees in the USA.
