ICMC Governing Committee member and former Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations in Geneva Archbishop Silvano Tomasi recently visited the ICMC office in Amman, Jordan.

Archbishop Tomasi was very impressed with the daily work carried out by the ICMC Jordan team supporting both Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. Throughout the years, ICMC Jordan has offered them critical humanitarian assistance and support by distributing relief items and cash allowances as well as by providing free educational and psycho-social services especially to women and children through the Protection Center in Mafraq.

Appointed Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant Peoples in 1989, Archbishop Tomasi has represented the Catholic Church before international institutions for over 10 years and has worked extensively on migration policy issues.

“I have a history of 50 years with ICMC which made me feel like I had to come here,” the Archbishop said enthusiastically at the end of the visit.
