Reporting back about ICMC’s global leadership of civil society in international migration governance, ICMC Head of Policy John K. Bingham presented at the UN Headquarters in New York two summaries of the extensive work done by the organization throughout 2016.

Introduced at the 15th Coordination Meeting on International Migration of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the two reports showcase the efforts made on the occasion of the Global Forum on Migration and Development, whose civil society activities were once again organized by ICMC’s Migration and Development (MADE) Network, as well as those of the civil society Action Committee convened ahead of the UN Summit on Refugees and Migrants.

The report also highlighted that the ICMC-led Action Committee, which came together for civil society organizing towards the Summit, will take forward its advocacy role in the next months to ensure the implementation of the New York Declaration commitments by connecting those civil society networks working on the two Global Compacts on safe, orderly, and regular migration and responsibility-sharing for refugees.
