Civil Society Statement at GFMD Friends of the Forum May 2019

Delivered by ICMC Director of Policy Stéphane Jaquemet on 29 May 2019 at the Friends of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in Geneva. The statement stresses the need for a diverse civil society participation at the GFMD in Quito, Ecuador. To that end, it highlights the importance of including grassroots advocacy organizations, migrant-led organizations, and women-led organizations coming from low-income countries.

The joint statement highlights issues that civil society hopes to see prioritized in the upcoming GFMD, such as bridging the gap between regular and irregular migrants, and improving access to essential services for vulnerable migrants, regardless of their status.
