Building a Resettlement Network of European Cities and Regions
In order to gather and capitalize on the wide expertise gained over the past four years through the work of the ICMC-led SHARE Network, ICMC Europe published the report “Building a Resettlement Network of European Cities and Regions: Experiences of the SHARE Network 2012-2015”.
Active from 2012 to 2015, the SHARE Network brought together a variety of actors involved in refugee resettlement in Europe – regional authorities, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and citizens’ associations – which worked jointly to facilitate the protection and integration of incoming refugees, as well as to promote a culture of welcome across the continent. Engaging institutional and civil society partners from 27 European countries, the network provided a platform to share expertise and exchange best practices, while also assisting the implementation of local initiatives.
The report constitutes a thorough summary of the policy reflections, tools, resources and recommendations developed by the SHARE members during the course of the network’s activity. It is aimed at offering guidance to local and regional actors willing to implement refugee reception projects in Europe, but also to support the advocacy efforts of many organizations working in the field.
