Rev. Fr. Roger Manalo
A member of the Scalabrinian Missionaries, Rev. Fr. Manalo was educated at the Maryhill School of Theology in Manila, Philippines, and ordained as a priest in January 2001. He first served as a parish priest in Australia, at St. Therese Catholic Parish in Sydney and Mater Christi Catholic Parish in Adelaide.
Fr. Manalo spent a significant period as a chaplain, with Filipino Catholic Communities in the Archdiocese of Adelaide and in the Diocese of Broken Bay in Australia, and with English-speaking migrants in the Archdiocese of Kaohsiung in Taiwan. He was previously the director of the Stella Maris International Seafarers Center in Kaohsiung, and subsequently held the position of chaplain at Kaohsiung port.
Fr. Manalo is currently the Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI) at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). ECMI was created to raise awareness of the needs and situations of Filipino migrants and their families amongst the local Catholic Church in the Philippines. It works within the Church and in society to ensure support and care for migrants.
