Pope Francis released the message announcing the 104th World Day of Migrants and Refugees on 14 January 2018, under the title “Welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating migrants and refugees”. The Pope called for a shared response to migration challenges, articulated by the four verbs, to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate.

Of this vital, shared responsibility, he said that “the Church intends to share with all believers and men and women of good will, who are called to respond to the many challenges of contemporary migration with generosity, promptness, wisdom and foresight, each according to their own abilities.”
