Rev. Fr. Jaison Vadassery Joseph
Rev. Fr. Jaison Vadassery Joseph from India was ordained as a Priest in 1996. He holds a Masters of Social Work degree, as well as a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was the Associate Director of the Ernakulam Social Service Society (ESSS) of the Archdiocese of Verapoly; a visiting faculty member of St. Teresa’s college, Ernakulam; Secretary to the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council’s (KCBC) Labor and Migrant Commission; and Director of the Kerala Labor Movement (KLM).
Fr. Vadassery is currently the National Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India’s (CBCI) Commission for Labor, set up in 1971 in response to the recommendation of the national seminar “Church in India Today” (1969) and the deliberations of the Synod “Justice in the World” (1971). Fr. Vadassery is also the Director of the Workers India Federation (WIF), a nation-wide labor organization.
The CBCI Office for Labor has programs for India’s unorganized workers, promoted through its official organ, the WIF. CBCI-Labor upholds the importance of employer-employee relationships.
Fr. Vadassery is also the executive secretary to the Commission for Migrants of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), newly established on 2nd May 2017.
