In 2015, Nicole left her native Côte d’Ivoire, hoping to find her way to Europe. She reached Libya, where, like many other migrants, she was interned in a camp and endured terrible conditions, which convinced her to return home.
Once back in Côte d’Ivoire, Nicole joined a resilience and socio-economic reintegration project for returning migrants organized by ICMC and its national member, the Episcopal Conference of Côte d’Ivoire. During the training, she learned the skills she needed to launch her own business.
“The program has been a blessing for me. We received training, we received funding. It allowed me to have a place,” says Nicole, who now owns a stand from which she sells eggs and produce.
