A Safe Space for Internally Displaced Children in Burkina Faso

Since September 2020, ICMC and the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees of Burkina Faso provide educational support and psychosocial assistance to 115 children displaced by violence.

Every weekday, the project’s new Child Friendly Space welcomes 80 children of preschool age. The center offers educational and recreational activities from 8 am to 2 pm, allowing parents to work and provide for their families. The center also provides snacks and lunch to the children, many of whom suffer from food insecurity. An additional 35 children of school age have been granted scholarships through the project, allowing them to continue their education.
