Strengthening the Capacity of and Social Protection for Domestic Workers

Strengthening the Capacity of and Social Protection for Domestic Workers 1

“After adoption, ratification!” was the call of over 70 NGOs and labor groups from 5 continents, including migrant domestic workers, at a conference co-organized by ICMC and hosted by the International Catholic Center of Geneva on June 3rd and 4th, 2011.

Organized by a network of Catholic-inspired NGOs and their partners, the consultation was held in anticipation of the adoption of the ILO Convention on Domestic Workers and the advocacy for ratification needed ahead.

ICMC’s summary report on this conference, “Strengthening the Capacity of and Social Protection for Domestic Workers”, includes an overview of current challenges and strategies for the ratification and implementation of the ILO Convention, as well as recommendations for states and other relevant actors for next steps.
