Ms. Marie-Christine Ries
Ms. Ries is a delegate for diocesan pastoral social care in the Archdiocese of Luxembourg. She coordinates the project «Reech eng Hand» (Extended hands), a reception initiative for migrants that mobilizes the community to welcome and accompany refugees and migrants in their daily integration.
Ms. Ries has worked for the Catholic Church in Luxembourg since 1986, serving as a pastoral assistant since 1997. She was the first women’s representative in the archdiocese. Today she is the representative of the laity in the Episcopal Council of Luxembourg.
She is President of the Caritas Luxembourg Confederation and of the Board of Directors of Christian Action for the Abolition of Torture (ACAT). She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Elisabeth Stëftung Foundation. She is also a member of the Board “Fondation Caritas”.
Ms. Ries studied Theology at the Catholic University of Louvain.
