Davide Bernocchi
Davide Bernocchi became the Secretary General of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) in June 2024.
Born in Italy, Mr. Bernocchi is an accomplished professional in international aid assistance. He brings over 20 years of experience managing large-scale programs within Catholic organizations across the MENA region, Africa, and Europe, with a particular focus on aiding internally displaced people and refugees in emergency situations.
From 2008 to 2023, Mr. Bernocchi held the position of Country Representative for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in different countries: Guinea, Lebanon, Iraq, Moldova, and Ukraine. In this capacity, he oversaw CRS’ activities – and support to national Caritas member organizations – in several other countries, including Cyprus, Syria, Jordan, Mauritania, and North Africa.
Meanwhile, from 2017 to 2020, he served as Special Advisor on Ecumenical & Interreligious Partnership for Caritas Internationalis.
Prior to that, he had worked as Executive Director for Caritas Somalia and Caritas Italiana’s liaison in the Holy Land.
He began his career as a social worker in municipal residential structures for migrants and refugees in Milan, Italy, and as a pastoral agent engaged in interreligious dialogue – with a focus on Muslim communities – in the Catholic Archdiocese of Milan.
Before embarking on his international aid career, Mr. Bernocchi completed graduate studies in Oriental Languages and Literatures and earned a postgraduate degree in Geopolitics.
