Since 2010, ICMC has collaborated with UNHCR in Greece by deploying highly qualified experts to different locations to provide support to UNCHR and assist local Greek authorities with the consolidation and advancement of the reform of the national asylum system. ICMC's experts provide information to newly arrived people on their rights and obligations and distribute essential non-food items in selected border locations.
Since 2012, ICMC Europe has led the SHARE Network, a platform gathering European local and regional authorities, as well as civil society organizations, which work together to promote the protection and integration of refugees in Europe. With its SHARE partners and members, ICMC develops and disseminates good practices in refugee reception, housing in European municipalities and integration within the community.
ICMC advocates for increased protection at sea directly with governments and in different regional and international fora. Among its many activities, ICMC participates in high-level meetings on protection at sea at the United Nations in Geneva and New York, bringing forward the urgent need to organize life-saving interventions and adopt a comprehensive plan of action to address the problem on the longer term.
