Born in Cabral in the Southeast of the Dominican Republic, Rev. Fr. Acosta was ordained as a Priest in 1977.
Deeply committed to Dominican Republic-Haitian bilateral solidarity, he has worked actively for more than four decades in pastoral care and counseling with Haitian and other migrants in the Dominican Republic’s Barahona Diocese. His work with migrants has also involved participation in the Dominican-Haitian Solidarity Service (today known as Caribbean House), which he co-founded in 1977.
Fr. Acosta is presently serving as the Executive Secretary of the Dominican Republic Episcopal Conference’s National Commission for Pastoral Care of Migrants. He coordinates the thematic agendas of cross-border meetings between Haitian and Dominican Republic bishops and holds the post of Vicar of the Clergy of the Diocese of Barahona.
