Prevent Human Trafficking in Mali

Over the past years, human trafficking has been rising in and around Mali’s gold mines. Locals and migrants are forced to work in unsafe operations. School-aged children work alongside their parents to complement a meager income. Women and girls are forced into prostitution in the camps and bars that surround the mines.
With your support, ICMC and Caritas Mali’s will work to curb the exploitation of women and girls in and around Mali’s gold mines. Your donation will allow us to:
- Develop radio broadcasts, social media campaigns, and public events (coronavirus permitting) to prevent human trafficking in Mali’s two largest gold mining regions.
- Identify women and girls victim of human trafficking and provide them with emergency shelter, clothing, psychosocial counseling, and pastoral accompaniment.
- Assist survivors as they re-enter formal education or income-generating activities, depending on their age.
The U.S.-based Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities has generously agreed to match donations until 2 May 2021. This means your gift will go twice as far to help survivors of trafficking and at-risk women and girls.
Every gift, however small, makes a difference.
If you experience difficulties with the donation form below, please use this one.
