On 25 June, the International Catholic Migration Commission’s Resettlement Support Center in Turkey and Middle East (RSC TuME) welcomed Director León Rodríguez of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at its Istanbul office. Ms. Pascale Moreau, the new UNHCR Representative in Turkey, joined Director Rodríguez during the visit.

Jason, Best Interest Determination Specialist in Shire, Ethiopia

Jason Bell is a child protection expert working within the framework of the ICMC-UNHCR Resettlement Deployment Scheme. Originally from the United States, Jason has been working with refugees since 2003, in reception facilities in the United States, as well as in Malawi and Kenya. Jason has joined ICMC as a Best Interest Determination Specialist in 2011. He is currently based in the UNHCR sub-office in Shire, Ethiopia.

Webinar: Community-Based Protection in Urban Areas

Representatives from the Malaysian office of the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) spoke of community-based protection for urban refugees during a webinar organized by the community-based protection team of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In total, 173 attendees connected to the webinar.

ICMC Urges States to Offer Additional Resettlement Places for Syrian Refugees

At the ministerial-level pledging conference on Syrian refugee resettlement in Geneva, States worldwide will have the opportunity to offer a substantial number of new and additional resettlement places or other forms of admission. ICMC, together with other NGOs, calls upon States to make commitments towards additional resettlement or other admission places for Syrian refugees.
