The International Catholic Migration Commission, together with a group of European NGOs active in the field of refugee resettlement, has raised serious concerns about the European Commission’s proposal for a Regulation establishing a Union Resettlement Framework. The proposal, the civil society group argues, focuses excessively on migration control objectives; resettlement should instead be perceived as a lifesaving tool and a durable solution for refugees.

Focus Group Discussions at ICMC Jordan Help Syrian Parents Share Feelings and Relieve Stress

Farid* and Amira* are a Syrian couple originally from Aleppo. Together with their seven children, they escaped the brutality of the Syrian war to find shelter in Jordan. The perilous journey took them through rural villages across the Syrian countryside before they were finally able to cross the Jordanian border on foot, during the night. They are currently living in Mafraq, in the north of the country.

World Refugee Day 2016: Resettled Refugees and Hosts Share Stories of Hope

To commemorate World Refugee Day on 20 June 2016, the International Catholic Migration Commission is launching a public call to share messages and stories of support and solidarity towards refugees worldwide. ICMC’s “Fun Day” Helps Syrian Children in Jordan Overcome Trauma and Isolation

Almost 170 Syrian and Jordanian children participated in the ICMC “Children’s Fun Day”, during which a series of games and educational activities were organized by the ICMC Protection Center in Mafraq, Northern Jordan. The ICMC Protection Center offers a Child Friendly Space where boys and girls can safely play as their mothers attend literacy classes or focus group discussions.
