The need
Local organizations frequently ask for assistance in building
and effectively managing programmes that serve uprooted people,
and in understanding important terms and concepts in the field
of migration, which are often insufficiently explained to those
most affected by their definitions.
Introduction
During its more than 50 years of work, ICMC has served hundreds
of thousands of refugees, migrants and displaced people. Building
on this expertise, ICMC's Training Programme offers services to
individuals and organizations around the world who seek to understand
and respond to the challenges of migration and displacement.
Durable solutions, conflict prevention and mitigation, emergency
preparedness, protection of Human Rights, counter-trafficking,
conflict management and peace-building are among the topics included
in curricula provided both to international NGOs as well as local
organizations on a grassroots level. ICMC also provides capacity
building to NGOs in financial reporting and administration, donor
relations and human resources, all of which are critical to the
successful implementation of their programmes.
Since its inception, the ICMC Training Programme has trained
over 80 organizations in more than 20 different countries. The
training philosophy of the programme is based on partnership,
quality and measurable results. ICMC staff provide pre-training
assessments, customized content, staff development, organizational
capacity building, programme development and support with project
implementation.
