Introduction
Being
uprooted from one's homeland can be a frighteningly swift event,
which contrasts sharply with the very often long and arduous journey
back home or to a new country.
Refugees and displaced persons must constantly be prepared to
move at a moments notice to protect themselves and their families,
and as a result, rest and a sense of security often seem painfully
unattainable.
These fears haunt them throughout every phase of their displacement,
and are often combined with ethnic persecution, fear of arrest
or incarceration, unemployment, the risk of trafficking, a lack
of access to basic services, or even a lack of means to return
home.
For
over 50 years, ICMC's primary objective through its operations
and activities is to assist and protect refugees, migrants and
displaced persons in finding this long sought security.
ICMC engages with donors to help identify the most pressing needs
for a particular group of displaced persons in order to find an
individualized, long-term solution for protecting and assisting
uprooted persons and their families.
In addition to advocacy, ICMC core activities
