Emergency relief for the displaced
The need
Millions of people have been displaced by conflict or natural
disasters in recent years. In fact, one of the immediate consequences
of an emergency is the movement of people on a massive scale.
Shelter and provisions are then urgently needed for basic survival
as well as to aid in the recovery of the community.

Introduction
Working with and assisting refugees and uprooted people necessarily
translates into working in emergencies, as these elements are
intrinsically linked. ICMC was one of the Churches responses to
the flood of refugees and migrants following the Second World
War and has consistently responded both quickly and efficiently
to some of the most devastating emergencies of the 20th and 21st
centuries.
As in all of ICMC's programmes, ICMC focuses on the most vulnerable
in emergencies, ensuring that they have access to the aid being
provided by the international community as well as providing the
psycho-social assistance necessary for survivors to reorganise
their lives.
