The Permanent Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue are organizing a panel event on human trafficking and human rights on 30 November 2023 in Geneva.

Human rights violations resulting from human trafficking continue to plague every region of the world. Despite the universality of human rights, victims of trafficking are still discriminated against because of their gender, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, migration status, or any other distinctions.

The panel event hopes to combat this aggravating global issue by increasing awareness among the international community.

To do so, the panel is aiming to:

  • Inform and Educate, by providing reliable and relevant information about the various forms of contemporary slavery, including forced labor, human trafficking, child exploitation, etc.
  • Challenge Perceptions, by addressing misconceptions and stereotypes that hinder a comprehensive understanding of contemporary slavery
  • Empower Individuals, by giving them the tools to recognize the signs of contemporary slavery, report them and advocate for victims’ rights
  • Advocate for Policy Change, through the creation of an advocacy platform for policy changes at all levels of governance to enact anti-slavery policies
  • Foster Collaboration, by encouraging NGOs, governments, businesses, religious congregations, and civil society to work together and pool their efforts to tackle contemporary slavery once and for all.
