UN Committee on Migrant Workers
GENEVA 27 April 2009 - At the tenth session of the UN Committee on Migrant Workers, ICMC delivered a response to the first report submitted by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. ICMC shares questions and concerns generated from their analysis of the report which included perspectives and experiences of ICMC members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in the Middle East and North African region and around the world. The statement focuses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Algerian migrant workers and members of their families in Algeria; as well as Algerian migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention, not only to the rights of migrants, but also to Algeria's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention. |
